When Kathril, Aspect Warper enters the battlefield, put a flying counter on any creature you control if a creature card in your graveyard has flying. Helped me prioritize indestructible and hexproof which I think are obviously the most important. Your list looks good, I'll just drop mine here for comparison. I have very little creatures that have haste, and the ones that do either have their own ability soup or they are Skullbrair. Some MVPs you should consider are [[Fauna Shaman]], [[Corpse Connoisseur]],[[Increasing Ambition]], and [[Final Parting]]. It doesn't look anywhere near streamlined enough for a fast voltron kill, nor does it seem robust enough to actually deal with a long, drawn out game. We just want creatures with as many keywords as possible, like Aerial … General Discussion Zendikar ... Meh, not cool then. https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/crypt-keeper-kathril/. The reason Kathril, Odric and cards similar to them work the way they do … EDIT: [[The Ozolith]] is also probably worth including to make your deck more resilient. (Plus Pristine Archangel for Progenitising your board.). As a small subtheme, we’ll also be looking to reanimate some of those creatures. After that I think it wouldn't be too bad to slot in a subtheme whether it be +1/+1 tokens, creature tokens, pillow fort, or etc. I mean, it'd be different if people were going full-bore reanimator, but I'm really not seeing those- most just seem to end up looking like kinda amorphous goodstuff piles. Then, after it does trade or you feed it to a skullclamp for cards, it hands out deathtouch counters to your guys when you play Kathril. Kathril wants us to focus on creatures with lots of keyword abilities. As for your other concerns I’m not quite sure as I’m not a serious player at all. I think the brew is running a tad too many expensive 5 mana plus keyword generators without the acceleration to back it up. Reach/first strike doesn't really do anything but at least it's extra counters instead of doubling up on trample. I know a lot of brews currently aim to maximize Kethril's etb but that feels like too much of a lynch pin that can get disrupted too easily. Mostly play it just to screw around with my mates. I thought it would be helpful to make a list without seeing any of the new cards in the precon so there's something I can compare them to. Magic is a game and games are supposed to be fun, so if you're not having fun playing commander, step away from it for a little bit. Altar of Dementia is standing kind of out for me as something that looks out if place. It'd be different if your deck was clearly going for a do-or-die facepunch that was looking to put someone out of the game on turn 3 or 4, but this deck does look to have any sort of play that explosive in it. I'd add [[Corpse Connoisseur]] [[Gravebreaker Lamia]] and any other direct-to-grave tutors you can get your hands on. I highly recommend Cheville and Vampire of the Dire Moon for this deck, because they are great early game and late-game while also being good in the graveyard. I hope you find what you’re looking for though! For any ability in the graveyard Kathril can put the same ability onto any creature on the battlefield (including itself!). Oketra the True - (G) (SF) (txt) (ER)[[cardname]] or [[cardname|SET]] to call. Being in Abzan colors, it feels like Kethril is very versatile and can go in a lot of directions after you fill the basic shell of creatures and spell effects. Only two keywords, but they're two of the best keywords and as far as I can tell Zetalpa is the only source of double strike or indestructible so having a second source of both of those would be good. I custom sorted by keyword too, I'd recommend that for anyone brewing Kathril. Then, after it does trade or you feed it to a skullclamp for cards, it hands out deathtouch counters to your guys when you play Kathril. Repeat this process for first strike, double strike, deathtouch, hexproof, indestructible, lifelink, menace, reach, trample, and vigilance. Kathril will create a separate counter for each variant of hexproof creatures in your graveyard have. Cookies help us deliver our Services. [[Oketra the True]] might be a good inclusion. I also tried to keep away from the temptation to put in terrible creatures with good keywords--there's a few in there, but mostly for doublestrike or hexproof. Then put a +1/+1 counter on Kathril for each counter put on a creature this way. The best card in this deck is [[Buried Alive]] and we mill zetalpa, [[kunoros, hound of athreos]] and [[carnage tyrant]]. Your own flying creatures are unaffected (most likely) because of indestructible in your graveyard, Whiptongue Hydra - (G) (SF) (txt) (ER)[[cardname]] or [[cardname|SET]] to call. I have a preliminary decklist but I feel like it needs better draw and/or mill options. Side note, the lands are just taken from Kerador's average deck entry on EDHREC so that will be adjusted. When Kathril, Aspect Warper enters the battlefield, put a flying counter on any creature you control if a creature card in your graveyard has flying. Repeat this process for first strike, double strike, deathtouch, hexproof, indestructible, lifelink, menace, reach, trample and vigilance. And just in case keyword counters aren't your jam, the other … In the same vein, Odric will give your creatures each variant of hexproof a creature you control have. For Card draw I think [[Bitter revelation]] was a nice find I didn't know about, think its a strictly better [[Funeral Rites]] although I included both in my deck. It may not be a bad idea to run Concerted Effort as well with cheap protection like Beloved Chaplain for some unexpected safety. You know it doesn't care about haste, right? I mean, it'd be different if people were going full-bore reanimator, but I'm really not seeing those- most just seem to end up looking like kinda amorphous goodstuff piles. So far the deck does not have Reach and has a large overlap of some abilities (mainly flying, followed by lifelink) and I am not sure about whether I have enough graveyard fill. Looking at [[moldervine reclamation]] and going to go through my mythic binder for questing beast, new Garruk, and newest vivien to see how they fit as well. That way when kathril ETBs on turn 5, she gets flying, vigilance, hexproof, indestructible, doublestrike, trample, menace, deathtouch, and lifelink and becomes a 12/12. I would love any/all feedback. Netherborn Altar is such a dangerous card, and without some more serious lifegain, I’m hesitant to slot it into this deck. Kathril thrives on keywords in the graveyard. From a little playtesting it seems solid enough but might not have enough ways to refill the hand, but there's plenty of tutors to make up for that. Looking for thoughts as well! Glad I randomly have a Swarmyard, it had already gotten higher because of the rat secret lair and maybe unsanctioned squirrels? I put together a first draft last night, was going to make a thread but I'll just leave it here instead. Once you can land double strike on kathril you can easily one-shot opponents - not bad for a $100 list! Doesn't work with tokens. [[Chariot of victory]] [[crashing drawbridge]] [[haunted cloak]] and others. They are pretty amazing for Kathril. The whole deck just feels kind of clunky and falls in to an awkward middle zone. It's usually ready to swing for lethal by turn 6 or 7 (I'm bored enough working from home I averaged out a bunch of goldfishes...), but a perfect hand can kill someone on turn 4.
